Meet Desiree N. Marion, MA, LMFTA
Hello, my name is Desiree Marion. I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy Associate (LMFTA) at New Life Counseling Center, PLLC, a private group practice in Winston Salem, NC, offering individual, group, couples and family counseling, and serving a wide variety of clients from diverse backgrounds. Our offices are conveniently located, have plenty of free parking and are fully handicapped accessible. The professional building has many different types of businesses so your confidentiality and anonymity is enhanced. Office hours are 9am-6pm Monday through Friday.
My training is in Marriage, Couples, and Family Therapy with an emphasis on family systems work. I received my B.A. in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (2015) and my M.A. from Lewis and Clark College (2018) in Portland, Oregon. I have a background working with youth and families in community mental health and school settings. Through this experience, I developed a passion for providing accessible services to clients who may have various barriers to receiving mental health care.
Some of my specialties include working with clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, and complex trauma. My multisystemic/trans-generational framework helps pave the way for healing as we explore the varied frames-of-reference in the family system. I firmly believe in meeting clients where they are in their journey of inner growth and positive change. My goal is to help you draw upon and build your inner strength to empower you in defining and achieving your goals for therapy.
With an emphasis on holistic mental wellness, I focus on how physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual experience impacts you and the counseling process. I use a trauma-informed, integrated approach and may incorporate Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Experiential Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques as needed, while also acknowledging and respecting your unique history, and how these experiences effect your individual needs.
I consider therapy a collaborative process between the client and therapist. I also believe that every person has the innate ability and drive to experience inner growth and to discover their own personal truth and meaning. My hope is to create a space where you can feel empowered to discover your true self and walk in that truth, while in pursuit of your therapy goals.
Originally from the Pacific Northwest, I recently relocated to Winston Salem to make my home in the beautiful state of North Carolina.
