Meet Carrie Wilson, LCMHC

carrieHello. My name is Carrie Wilson. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) at New Life Counseling Center, PLLC, a private group practice in Winston Salem, NC, offering individual, group, couples and family counseling, and serving a wide variety of clients from diverse backgrounds. Our offices are conveniently located, have plenty of free parking and are fully handicapped accessible. The professional building has many different types of businesses so your confidentiality and anonymity is enhanced. Our office hours are 9-6 Monday through Fridays. Some evening hours are available by prior arrangement. Telehealth services are also available for your convenience.

I earned a Master of Arts in Counseling at Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, North Carolina in 2019. I’ve worked in a school setting, outpatient, and a hospital setting where I worked with children and families in the pediatric oncology ward. I work with children as young as 3 years old, teenagers, and adults. I provide services to individuals and families.  As an associate level therapist, I work under the supervision of Donna P. Dunlap, MSCP, LCMHCS.

It’s important for me as a counselor to create a safe space for you to talk, heal, grow, and feel validated. I  "meet you where you" are in your feelings and emotions. I believe the client should be able to share their feelings and be their true self without judgment and criticism. By offering acceptance and support, I empower my clients to become the best versions of themselves and overcome struggles. I encourage my clients to fully feel and understand their emotions to work through and manage them more effectively by using using emotion-regulation skills. I value a trustworthy, therapeutic relationship where my clients can feel safe and heard as we work through some of their hardest challenges. I love working with people to help remove blocks which are preventing them from being their most awesome self.

My goal is to empower individuals and encourage you to reach their full potential. I use a strength based, client-centered approach to assist the client in achieving a greater independence while building on the strengths the client already has. I use cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT) to help clients change negative thoughts in order to promote change and reach their goals. I provide trauma-focused, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness practices, and child-centered play therapy. I also offer faith based Christian Counseling to clients who are interested.

I look forward to getting to know you and helping you reach your full potential.
