Meet Ben Jones, LCMHC

I'm a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) at New Life Counseling Center, PLLC.
After spending most of my life in a small town in North Carolina, I earned a degree in Counselor Education with a focus in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at East Carolina University. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist. I serve adults of all ages and children as young as 12. My specialty areas include addictions, depression, anxiety disorders and trauma.
For as long as I can remember, I've had a desire to help people who are struggling with various challenges in their life. My passion is in helping people identify their needs and to help them find healthy ways to meet them, so they can live better lives for themselves and their families. I work with individuals and groups who want to find new ways of coping with their problems so that they can live more meaningful lives and have healthier relationships with those around them.
While many factors play a role in the therapeutic process, I believe that the therapeutic alliance is one of the most important factors and best predictors of success. That is why I take the necessary time getting to know each one of my clients, helping them identify what they want to focus on in therapy and what type of treatments work best for them. Although my work with every client is unique, my goal for all is the same: to help you meet your needs!
As a person-centered therapist, I am not “the expert." You are! A person-centered therapist allows the client to guide the session, not jumping in to solve the problems, but helping you to explore your inner dynamics through an accepting process, to find your own truths and answers. By focusing on the person first, this allows my clients to play an equal part in their therapeutic journey and set and achieve realistic goals that align with their needs, beliefs and values. At times, some type of change must occur to meet our needs. I offer skills training and eclectic methods of change. I also welcome your ideas and input in tailoring a therapy that works best for you, your goals and your lifestyle.
My goal isn’t to change you but to provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment to discuss your needs and concerns, which I believe is where change begins. I’m excited to join you on your journey of change in finding a happier and more fulfilling life!
