Hi! My name is Anna, and I'm a clinical intern at New Life Counseling Center, PLLC, a private group practice in Winston Salem, NC, offering individual, group, couples and family counseling, and serving a wide variety of clients from diverse backgrounds. Our offices are conveniently located, have plenty of free parking and are fully handicapped accessible. The professional building has many different types of businesses so your confidentiality and anonymity is enhanced. Our office hours are 9-6 Monday through Fridays. Some evening hours are available by prior arrangement.
When you attend counseling, you will experience a safe space filled with empathy and compassion. Our relationship is without judgment, and I am committed to your ultimate wellness and healing. I believe in facing one's past, confronting unfinished business, and accepting all of one's thoughts and feelings to commit to fulfilling action.
Our relationship will highlight your unique and innate strengths. Our time together will build on these personal qualities to attain your desired goals. You are the expert on yourself, and my clinical approach will be based on your concerns and significant qualities. You can expect our therapeutic alliance to be person-centered with an emphasis on Individual Psychology and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Treatments will be tailored to your individual needs and personality.
I work with a diverse group of clients including couples, children, parents, teens, adults, families and groups.
My interests center on trauma-informed practice (TF-CBT, healing from trauma), suicide prevention, counseling children (including play therapy), relationship concerns (building trust, improving communication, infidelity, confronting key concerns), intimate partner violence, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, grief, depression, oppositional defiant disorder, and personality disorders.
I graduated from North Carolina State University (Summa Cum Laude) with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and minor in Women's and Gender Studies. I am completing my clinical mental health counseling Masters degree at Wake Forest University. I have clinical background with children, parents, and teens at Crossnore School & Children's home.
I have an additional (3 years) experience at a domestic violence and sexual assault safe haven. I'm trained in DV victimology, crisis intervention, and children's psychoeducation on healthy relationships.
