I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at New Life Counseling Center, PLLC, a private practice in Winston Salem, NC, offering individual, group, couples and family counseling, and working with a wide variety of clients. Our offices are conveniently located, have plenty of free parking and are fully handicapped accessible. The professional building has many different types of businesses so your confidentiality and anonymity is enhanced. Office hours are 9-6 Monday through Thursday, and Fridays by prior arrangement.
In 1988, my career began in the field of nursing, where I cared for patients in the community. This included those in the care of Hospice as well as Infectious Disease. After 12 years at home with my three children, I recognized my passion for supporting others emotionally, mentally, & spiritually. This led me to pursue higher education with a focus on marriage and family relationships.
My clinical experience includes working with individuals (14 years & older), families, and couples (married & dating), as well as groups for women’s issues, grief, and families that are dealing with impact of addictions & other mental health issue. I continue to work with clients who have struggled with grief/loss, mood disorders, addiction recovery (behavioral, substance abuse, co-dependence), post abortion recovery, life transitions and relational issues. In addition, I incorporate the element of faith for those individuals who are interested in exploring the impact of Christianity.
I also provide counseling to those examining the status of their intimate relationships. This can vary from enrichment needs, to reconciling painful events as well as the options of separation &/or divorce. I believe that support during these times can allow for clarity of thoughts, feelings & needs allowing communication within the decision-making process.
I perceive all people as resilient individuals who are physical, spiritual, mental, emotional and social beings who impact & are impacted by the environment and others around them. My hope is that my clients can develop a sense of self-compassion, move into a place of self-acceptance, feel empowered to identify & move towards their needs.
Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2012, where I received my Master’s Degree in Christian Counseling.
